Mental Health Head Start families are in need of a well-planned services that support the classroom and home environment.. Along with the Mental Health Team & the support of center staff, Head Start families will have access to mental resources, referral, case consultation and when applicable play therapy services. Involvement of Head Start parents is another way of addressing concerns, problems, suggestions or recommendations when it comes to individualizing services for Head Start children.
The Team Approach system is a way for the Mental Health Team, Agency Coordinators, teaching staff, Family Service Worker and Head Start parents to provide services that will be effective, timely and essential for the well-being of the Head-Start child. Enhancing mental health services can be accomplished by forming partnerships with community mental health agencies such as the Children’s Center. This agency has provided an abundance of free services for the New St. Paul agency such as workshops, trainings and play & art therapy services.
